Wallabies Welcome Reception

Australian Ambassador Richard Court AC and Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle ONZM welcomed the Wallabies to the Australian Embassy Tokyo on 25 September as part of their Rugby World Cup Campaign. Wallabies Head Coach Michael Cheika attended the welcome party with players Christian Lealiifano, Tolu Latu and Jordan Petaia.

Mr Cheika shared his expectations for the remainder of the Rugby World Cup and his high expectations for the Wallabies’ performance.

The Embassy hosted the reception as part of its AUS+RALLY Sports Diplomacy campaign, celebrating Australian and Japan sporting friendship in 2019 and 2020.

Special guests included Minister Ryota Takeda, Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission, former Defense Minister and Chair of the Japan Diet Rugby Club Gen Nakatani, Rugby World Cup 2019 Organising Committee CEO Akira Shimazu and MPs Toshiaki Endo, Yasuhide Nakayama, Karen Makishima and Kazuhiko Shigetoku.
